What is Middleware? Business Process Management

Using our fictional communities of Middleware Fields and Codeaway Valley, we examine how the toy factory within Middleware valley was able to reduce customer pain and increase efficiency with process management capabilities.

Using the toy factory analogy we are able to see how some basic visibility, structure and management of the process can help operations – much in the same way Business Process Management capabilities can add value within the enterprise. Processes are able to use the capabilities outlined in our prior episodes What is Middleware? Service Oriented Architecture Explained and What is Middleware? Application Servers to benefit from a foundation of functionality.

Key Takeaways

  • Process management capabilities increase efficiency by structuring the routing and management of work
  • Analytical insights help organizations to learn where processes are breaking down and optimize them
  • Management functionality allows processes to react to high workloads, delays and resource constraints to ensure business keeps moving forward

In our next episode we will tackle Access Management and Identity to understand why it is important and how it adds value to organizations.
